Pokemon GO has more daily active users than our beloved Twitter. Simply from growth perspective, we can't ignore it. What do we think?? The crazier the better :D

    While it's very possible it could be a fad, they have unlocked monetization potential that few have really cracked.

    They have found a way to incentivize people to visit businesses. In a way that people will be more than happy to do, and they actually need to visit that business to redeem it. I don't think even Foursquare was able to track that kind of advertising.

    Also, it doesn't actually have more daily active users. The Similar Web blog post reports on daily active user rate - not raw users - only on Android devices. Let's not forget Similar Web, while a great tool for directional data, has questionable accuracy.

    Sites like Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter have proven you just need generate and maintain the attention of the masses and you can monetize with ads later.
    PokemonGo has a interesting advantage vs those sites in that there are already inApp purchases. This means they're already generating income and don't necessarily have to rely on ad income.

    I believe there is some huge ad potential here - considering the fact that if you use your Google profile to login - they already have a ton of data on their users.

    I've already seen live examples such as:
    A facebook ad in my newsfeed for a local zoo who is using Pokemon Go to bring more visitors.

    It will be interesting to see what the company decides to do from an advertising stand point.
