There was a company I worked with that had the best cold email but only because that company showed you what your competitors are doing. They could provide 'real value' in the email itself just by listing your competitors activities. Another company had website guides so they could send an email and anyone clicking on the link would see their own website with that companies guide attached. Again, they could prove the product in the email.

I guess the underlying rule is 'provide real value' and that is the best email.

In emailing journalists the email that worked best involved referencing their previous articles in the subject header and in the content. Then showing them how our product fit into their previous writing and gave them something new to talk about. Didn't always work but they did always reply.

    "Hi Jordan
Saw you worked at Wishpond. I just love your blog, and saw from your comments here that you to have a fondness for marketing hacks. I wrote a piece on the subject. Is it possible to ask you to skim through it and maybe add another growthhack. Of course proper credit will be granted.
    Please let me know
    Ben"

We had two subject lines that worked really well "Our customer love you " and "We want to Spoil you :balloon:".
We emailed blogs and isntagrammers in order to have them feature us at spoil.co.
The body varied but it was basically that our customers wanted us to work with the specific instagrammer / blogger.
Using emojis helped a lot and we had a 30% response rate, and most of the people agreed to post for free.

I have done cold emails to top industry guys and have got to do work with them (Or at least them saying that they will contact me later). With this technique I have got to work for Neil Patel, Mike Kamo & Harsh Agrawal.

Here is what you do -

    1. Identify how you can help a person grow their business -

In my case, I'm a conversion rate optimization consultant. So, I can help people grow their email lists

    2. Provide them help -

Instead of just saying that how good you are at your work. Just Do It!! In my case, I will tell website owners that how they can grow their email list. I will give them the exact strategy they can use to grow their email list (In form of PDF or Video Report) and then at the end of the video or PDF report, I will tell them that if they don't have time, they can always contact me and I can do it for them.

    Why this works -

This strategy requires a lot of efforts. You need to spend hours to make the report for the person (And he might not even open your email)

But, why this works is because instead of just telling that you are great at your work, you are actually proving it by telling the exact strategies that can help the person. So, he is more likely to hire you because, you told them what their problems are and you also told them that you are the solution.

You can try these cold pitches to get more clients. Let me know if this strategy helped you. :)

I've had a lot of success from this one from the guys at LeadFuze.

    Hi {{firstname}},

I came across your {{website, social media page, article mention}} and I think it’s awesome. Especially the {{specific detail/or learning}}.

My background is in {{solving expensive problem they have}} specifically helping {{businesses like theirs}} with {{your special skill or service}}.

It’s not that hard, but there are a few critical steps that a lot of people mess up.

Can I share? Your reply with just a Yes or No will be much appreciated. Will only take 5 mins.

    [Insert Email Signature]

    P. S. If you aren’t the right person to contact about this, please let me know. If you’d rather I not follow-up, you can let me know that too!

I mention this and some more Cold Email insights in my Free email course: http://www.wakeupwithleads.com/coldemail/
