My long-term interest = High Level (VP) Content Strategist role of some sort.

My strengths are strategy and analytics. Background (both undergrad degrees) = Accounting and Finance. I am early in my career and switched fields 8 months ago. I have found that am very passionate about this field. (E-Commerce is it!) - Currently an E-Commerce Marketing Analyst (switching from Actuarial Analyst). I want to know if there are any programs and/or certifications that you would highly recommend if my long-term goal is to do something like Director/VP of Content Strategy or work at an agency helping businesses with their overall online presence, online strategy, branding/delivery. My long-term strategy is to continuously learn as much as I can and lead the field in some way. Any and all input is appreciated!

Hey Kristi-Lynn, congratulations on finding your passion! 80% of the requirements are fulfilled. However, the last 20% is a bit tricky. Online Marketing is not a field that lives off of certification or degrees. It's too fast-lived. Therefore, gain as much practical experience as possible.

How do you that when you need more practical experience to gain more practical experience? You do a project for free. Maybe there's someone in your inner circle who needs support in exactly that function? Offer it for free but ask to be able to publish a case-study about it or at least show your work to your boss. That's how you solve the chicken-egg problem here.

    Best of luck!

Hey Kevin. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated. I fully agree with your approach. I've taken the lead on some side projects to figure out in my spare time, and I am working on building my network now. Along with that I am looking at a few certifications mentioned below just to start somewhere on gaining exposure.

For anyone else interested, I found some pretty helpful (& free) online certifications to help get you up and running. There is a link below to show them. Included are Google Adwords Fundamentals, Google Analytics Academy, Hubspot Inbound Marketing Cert., Hubspot Email Marketing Cert., etc. - https://digitaldefynd.com/10-free-digital-marketing-certifications-that-will-help-you-add-skills-to-your-career/

    Best of luck!

I personally recommend the Udacity Digital Marketing Nano-degree program (https://www.udacity.com/course/digital-marketing-nanodegree--nd018). This course provide a wide overview of all the key elements of the Digital Marketing and provide frameworks to define your strategy. Udacity also has another nano-degrees for Dana Analysis (https://www.udacity.com/course/data-analyst-nanodegree--nd002). These nano-degrees has cost but Udacity has another for free (https://www.udacity.com/courses/all)
