It seems that more and more, roundups are disappearing. It seems blogs that used to put them out on a weekly basis, either pulled it back to monthly or quarterly or stopped doing roundups altogether. I mean, I can still find some here and there, but overall the popularity of roundups seems to be depleting.

Why is that? Is it too tiresome to gather links on a weekly basis? Are bloggers just putting more focus into their custom content?

They are still around. I create them every Friday on our blog and then also send it out as a newsletter to our mailing list subscribers (bloggers, and other influencers) I I use my Snapzu (a platform similar to reddit but more catered for bloggers) community to gather the best links for the week and then hand select the five we feel would be most appreciated.

Here's our Mailchimp history if you are interested: https://us15.campaign-archive.com/home/?u=1a580423e7c525cd4d4534c95&id=1712bcf59d

    Hope this helps!

Now that's something to think about -- even though you're doing both, perhaps other companies have made a transition to newsletters in lieu of their weekly roundup.
