How would you promote your Kickstarter to make sure it's successful?
You may find some inspiration in these posts:
Here are just a few to start:
Local media outlets (news sites/stations)
The local media outlets depends on what your kickstarter is for.
PR will be your best friend. You'll want to get out to as many outlets as possible BEFORE the launch of your kickstarter.
The first day is a huge indicator of success.
It's also important to understand - besides promotion - there are a number of factors that determine if a kickstarter is successful or not.
I wanted to add a few notes on PR.
One, set an embargo date. Youll get combined effects if several news outlets go live around same time rather than spaced out
Two the hard but effective tip. Do your research on what journalists have covered before. I worked with a guy who worked on a very big, successful kickstarter and that was one of the keys for him. You can relaye your kickstarter to something theyve already covered. It will take time though, consider outsourcing it via odesk.
The best answer is to have a network already built up.
My growth hacking course (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/923832896/secret-sauce-the-ultimate-growth-hacking-and-marke) has raised $43k so far without any PR or promotion other than hitting up an internal network.
All it was is writing a few great blog posts - they were viewed 1m times, and a few thousand people signed up for an email list. Emailed them, let them know the book was coming out, and that's it.
