Do URLs in the description help my Google SEO?

Yes. Put it in the title, like this:

"How to Sell Anything" by [at]JonathanKorn of ImTheBoss.com

and put the address in the description as well. In the description, you get 3 lines (or is it 2?) before YouTube cuts the rest off. Make sure your URL is in one of those 3 lines.
You're really going to want to focus on the keywords, as well. What terms or words will people use to find what you are talking about? Once you know, fill up the real estate with it.

And then of course...distribution, distribution, distribution!
    Good luck!

What we have found is that embedding the YouTube videos on both PBN and Web 2.0 properties helps the video to rank and pushes the SEO juice through the description link to your website. Ensure that you use the http:// in the description link so its clickable and viewers can easily visit your site. You can also silo the videos in your playlists to add extra SEO value.

The URL in the description will count as a backlink. From there, it's all about promoting your video to get more backlinks, embeds, and engagement signals (thumbs up, subscribes, comments) to strengthen the SEO standing of the video, which in turn makes it a more meaningful description backlink to your website.
