Ask GH: Are you seeking a new growth role opportunity (either within your current employer or with a new company)?

I figure the easiest way to share my idea is to publicly post it here in the discussion...
I'd like to try to do is a series of "open source interviews" with potential growth role candidates. Essentially AMAs (ask me anythings) where potential hirers could ask a candidate questions and everyone sees the answers. Even people who aren't hiring could post questions. I think it would be a fascinating way for all of us to get to know a candidate and it's a great way to a candidate to "get noticed" for a great potential role.
I'm confident lots of lurking hirers would monitor the discussions and reach out to the candidates that catch their interest. In the case of someone who is already in a full time role, we may be able to do the AMA anonymously, so the candidate provides some background, but not their actual name or current company name. They would then have the option of connecting with companies that show interest.
What do people think about this idea (both candidates and hirers)? Is it only something that applies to a particular level of candidate or is it something that all levels of candidates should consider (Jr and Sr). Any volunteers to be the first to try it?
Hey Sean, I'm game for this! I think there's some great value on both sides of the equation and like the idea of opening up an interview (AMA style) to the community here on GH. If you're looking for volunteers, I'd love to chat with you more and get involved from Jr. growth hacker perspective.
I think there's value here in reaching out to Sr. level people as well and seeing if they would be interested in your idea as well. Even if they are well established in there career and aren't currently looking for a new role, their feedback might be really valuable for people hiring. People that are hiring might be asking the wrong types of questions, which Sr people with more experience will pick up on quickly and point out accordingly!

Awesome, thanks @austinbrawner . Great to hear something from someone on the hiring side! Hiring a good marketer/growth hacker is notoriously difficult. Soft skills are at least as important as the hard skills for a marketer. I'll reach out when we get our first AMA live.
Hey Austin, I read your position's description, and I think it can be so interesting for me. How would you feel about an applicant from Iran?
How about a "growthhacking hackathon?" It would be interesting to see something like a 48-hour challenge "growthhack a microbusiness challenge."
It would allow companies, seeking to hire, an opportunity to see growthhackers in action. For growthhackers, it would be an opportunity to showcase their skills and apply their knowledge in a sudo-realtime situation.
Although interesting, I think it's hard to do, and almost unviable. You can't hack the growth of a startup in 48hs. It would be interesting to develop a month-long challenge, or a similar time frame, for groups of growth hackers to either grow something, or propose growth tactics for a startup.
Still, this is much harder than doing a code hackathon, or a lean startup hackaton.
Month-long challenge would be interesting.

Seems like a great learning opportunity. As a gh newbie handling growth in a startup it would be interesting to see how much (or rather how little) I know and what I need to work on. I'd love to volunteer as a Guinea Pig but I'm not looking for an opportunity right now and I'd probably just embarrass myself :P

@sean I think this is a great opportunity for such a growth hackers like me. I want to have a growth-focused role in a great startup and improve my experience but I have a serious problem:
I'm from Iran and because of some sanctions I don't have the same opportunities as others. I need a chance to show my abilities and I think this interview is that chance.

I probably am not suitable for this experiment, but getting exited here all the same. I think this could be developed to be a part of recruiting processes in a wider context as well. Maybe adding a "AskMeAnything"commend section to i.e LinkedIn profiles could help people find potential and opportunities. And it would be a great way for not just recruiters but cooperation partners etc. to really get to know who they're operating with.
