Possible to put Retargeting pixel on Medium.com blog posts?
My team wants to use Medium.com for distribution of our blog posts. I want to be able to retarget our viewers. Can we have it both ways?
For sure, I would keep it simple and use http://www.retargetlinks.com/
It's a link shortener that redirects through a page containing your remarketing snippets. Whenever you share the posts, just use one of those links.
It's a good option, but only for people coming to your Medium posts through these links (I'll assume FB and twitter), and not Medium readers who come directly from Medium, or via a search engine.
Unfortunately, with Medium, you can’t retarget people who read your articles and moreover you can’t add any tracking code or retargeting pixels to your posts.
[Disclosure] I'm the co-founder of PixelMe.
For every article we are publishing on Medium, we are using PixelMe to embed a Facebook retargeting pixel (and other platforms) in every link contained in the post.
PixelMe is a URL shortener that embeds your retargeting pixels from Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin… into your links.
We have written an article about that: How to retarget your Medium Readers with Facebook Ads.
Finally you’ll be able to create Ads campaign for your total pixel audience of just the ones who saw a particular link.
Good question, I'd be curious to know as well :)
The simple answer is: no, it is not possible to do this on Medium currently, or probably ever from what I have read. They seem to have no intentions of doing this.
Basically its a violation of their TOS and community guidelines. Funny enough it is one of the main reasons that Medium is so popular today as a platform.
Isn't there a way around this? Like putting pixel code in picture/video that you upload on the a medium blog post? Just thinking out loud...
