    How about partnering with others that are all about learning to spread the word?

    For eg:
    a) Lumosity is all about constantly exercising your brain

    b) Tim Ferriss - his Tim Ferriss Experiment show was all about novice's being able to learn seemingly complicated skills through a systematic workflow

    c) Lego: With their mindstorms, they lay the foundation for kids to learn how to code

    d) Language learning apps (like Duolingo)

    Really nice new design and powerful message. Here are a few thoughts:

    1) I echo @ankitjain's idea of a video — you could make a very powerful, inspiring video that definitely has the potential to go viral. I like the one you made about learning anything, but you could tell powerful stories of transformation with additional video content.

    2) I would do a hashtag campaign, something like #TIL or something like that.

    3) You might team up with celebrities and other notable folks to share a "today I learned" moment with their audiences. You can also include regular people from around the world learning things.

    4) Pledge to learn something new. I think this idea of pledging or making a commitment to learn something new is very powerful. Having people step up to learn something new could be amazing. You can also set goals/levels. We want 500,000 Americans to pledge to learn Chinese this year, etc. etc. Get parents to pledge to teach their kids.

    5) Learn with a friend. Encourage people to pick a friend to learn something with and get them both to pledge.

    6) I'd team up with other sites/publications/schools to set up their own learning challenges. Or let schools/organizations set challenges for their teams (e.g. Facebook challenges 1,000 employees to learn _______", etc.

    7) When you click on "I'm in" you should have an immediate share CTA, get people to join in with them. Also, I'd have them pick something to learn at the beginning.

    Just a few random thoughts. Happy to elaborate more

      I really like #7 where people sign up to join "the movement" and then have an immediate share CTA to get people to join them.

      Also like #5 where people are encouraged to find at least one other person to learn with them. This creates accountability and is also one other person who finds out about the campaign. We've also seen how effective contacting three other people can be with ALS.

      #4 with pledging and finite goal numbers is very interesting.

      For #6 I'd add making a list of the top similarly minded organizations such as non-profits that are dedicated to improving educational opportunities in the US and abroad. Partnerships could be formed where they either push Khan Academy as a program their students can participate in or else it's one of many things they promote / link to / share about in their mission to improve education around the world.

    1. The message / theme is ripe for developing an amazing video which has a potential to go viral. It is a unicorn bet, but should definitely be tried. Themes could be underprivileged children in any corner of the world getting the opportunity to learn interactively, middle-aged low-income workers learning new skill sets which help them maintain their relevance against a more tech-savvy younger workforce, a young professional changing their dead-end career by learning new skill sets to become self-employed, a mom being able to keep up with her high-energetic kids pro at new fields of studies.
    2. I feel it is hard in general to convey just the "joy of learning" to a wider audience. IMHO, a message showing the outcome of a proposed learning will resonate better. And in a situation where people think that learning something new is going to be an uphill task (due to time constraint, age factor etc.)

      For number one, it seems that emotionally-charged real-life stories will have more impact compared to a generic commercial, illustrative type of video. With the real-life version, the best, most emotionally compelling stories with the most impressing outcomes could be told to get the word out. I like the idea of real stories and real outcomes with an emotional pull and results that are impressive enough to get noticed. This is the same as a marketing consultant who creates a case study with they're most compelling result with their most outstanding client. "Learn how we increased conversions 750% for President Obama!"

    I'm a big fan of Khan Academy and education in general. Here are some suggestions:

    Reach out to the Vine community, in particular the top Vine profiles: http://www.rankzoo.com/. The top ten have a collective 60 million followers. Many of them have their emails in their profiles. You can also use this link (http://seenive.com/channels) to look at top Vine profiles by category.

    Once you've identified who would be a good fit for the brand, you could have them create content for their highly engage demographic, which on Vine consists of mostly teenagers and young adults. Good Vines get re-vined and there's a seamless Twitter integration.

    Once you get some good ones, others may want to join in on the hashtag. To increase the chances of this, you could incentive submissions.

    After this, that's when it would be a great time to approach blogs and traditional media with a well-curated set of awesome Vines, while reminding them of the overall goal.

    Also, there's a little known fact that anyone can post onto BuzzFeed: http://www.buzzfeed.com/community. You could take the Vine submissions and extend their reach, then follow up with creators and say "Look, you're on BuzzFeed!" Pretty sure they would share this with friends/fans. That could be followed up by or injunction with a post on Reddit.

      A twist on this would be to find the most influential people who currently use or have used Khan Academy. Has Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg ever used it? No idea (and probably not), but if any students are influential and have platforms, they might be inclined to a participate / tell their story / be a spokesperson in some way.

    Thanks for posting Tom. Khan Academy has been transformative to education and I'd love for the GH community to help even more people take advantage of it.

    I'm at a conference today, but will try to jump on this when I'm on the plane tonight. In the meantime, hopefully others can contribute some ideas.

    One can also contrast against how some people in their 30s or later attended evening schools, fought against all odds but learned new skills sets to achieve their dream. With their story as an anchor, a message can be given that learning new things is now much more easier with a product like Khan Academy. Now nothing should stop you from learning that thing which you have been dreaming about but have been putting off for later.
