I currently use Mixpanel and it's great. So happy with them, I even wear their lovely "I am data driven" t-shirt!

However, I've noticed a few inaccuracies with tracking such as signups per day when comparing to my database.

Can I assume these inaccuracies are due to those users with JS disabled and/or have Adblockers installed?

Have you guys experienced inaccuracies with Mixpanel or any other analytics platforms you use?

Is this simply something we have to live with and isn't really a problem as the sample size is adequate?

Hey AbsFarah, I haven't used Mixpanel, but I've used similar tools and I think issues arise because most implementations of these analytics services are event-driven, and events are not always an accurate account of what actually happened. How do you track signups? Is it an event on the page or through server code?

Hi Dylan, apologies for the delay in replying.

Yes, its an event that is captured after the user signups and they reach the dashboard. It is still using client side tracking. The numbers I have in my database are about 10 signups higher per day than what Mixpanel is reporting.

I will email their support team and see what they say. I am seriously considering writing our own analytics dashboard because of this issue and I believe we can come up with better graphs to visualise our metrics!
