Developers are no longer limited to simple images and text, but now have the ability to use interactive and rewarding ads to engage the user. Beyond just how you can advertise, there are now countless ways to optimize, track, and report on your mobile advertising efforts.

    HI Paul,
    Nice share.
Mobile is becoming the next desktop and people are using them like crazy. No wonder search engines are also favoring mobiles so why not have ad strategies that work the best for mobile platforms.

I use Admob for my apps and have heard good things about Appnext.

    Thanks for sharing.

With the rise of more "smart" phones, it's imperative we be able to reach our customers via mobile. Having specific mobile applications for advertising makes reaching them that much easier. I haven't heard about any of the platforms in the article but will be researching them further.

Thanks for sharing them with us!

    Thanks Paul,

Although I appreciate the importance of mobile advertising I hadn't appreciated the subtleties of the different mobile ad platforms and how their suitability varies so widely depending on the specifics of your smartphone ad campaign.

Your research on these 7 platforms will certainly save advertisers a lot of time planning a mobile ad campaign.

I like the fact that AdMob allows us to create highly customized ads and also the fact that Google acquired them. I'm familiar with Google's advertising, so I think it would probably be the easiest for me to adapt to. It's good to know that there are so many options for mobile ads. This will be especially useful for apps.

I've heard of AdMob but not the others. Of course, I'm not a gamer, nor do I sell anything related to gaming.

I'm a freelance writer and editor.

Which type of advertising platform would be best for me? (I'm actually currently not spending any money on advertising. Word-of-mouth is working well enough for me at this point!) ;)
