We use these and they work great. This can be used for non-consumable products as well (lets say product has a recommend lifetime length of X). As long as you know X, you can tailor your replenishment sequence around it.

Would you be willing to share an example I could feature in the post? Couldn't find a single one in my own inbox.

Not exactly the same as but but it reminds me of the typical B2B "compliance campaign".
At the end of quarter or at the end of the year you remind people about who needs a license and who doesn't. We couldn't always tell if people were out of compliance or not but we usually sold a bunch of extra seats. This works really well at the end of the year combined with a "Got extra budget? Why not get a few more users on the platform" type message.

This is exactly how email marketers should think of timing, as opposed to "which day of the week is best to send."

Great post, Jimmy. Here's an example I really liked from 1-800 CONTACTS: http://blog.rejoiner.com/2015/03/a-perfectly-executed-reorder-email-from-1-800-contacts/

Also loved how the session was regenerated across devices.

This dash button reminds me the "push for pizza" project, even this one being an app: http://welcome.pushforpizza.com/
