Using the Drake Equation for romance, I found out that there are approximately 64 potential spouses in my city.

The odds aren't exactly in my favor. So I plan to use my marketing skillz and use targeted Facebook ads to help improve my chances.

Bottom-line, if you want to:

  • Discover how to personalize your dating experience (or learn to create targeted Facebook ads)
  • Explore new way to find a spouse
  • Tired of relentless dating site spam
  • Learn new ways to connect with people online
  • Or you enjoy funny stories from the adventures of a crazy marketer...

You might like my experiment to find a spouse on Facebook.

This is awesome post can't wait to see how turns out. One thing that wasn't clear though is how much are you leveraging landing page to filter on personality/values, the stuff that supports chemistry long term? I also would modify drake equation to include % I know I want to marry and % would want to marry me. I think you ended with 67 people, say 30% each way, that's 6ish people, which seems reasonable.

You are right on the landing page; there's a lot of details I could have included.

I chose not to as it would be a new topic (landing pages vs. Facebook ads).

Drake Equation wasn't perfect, but hopefully still humorous :)

I did this 1.5 years ago. I was searching a girlfriend not wife. JT worked:
3 days campaign, $12 spent, 5 leads, 3 qualified leads :D and 1 girlfriend in the end. We stayed together for about 4 months.

But you got yourself way complicated (maybe we wanted to do all this as a PR or so).
You do not need a landing page. Actually is better not to have a website but a Facebook PAGE. The girls will not even understand that that is not "just a personal profile on Facebook".

Well, good luck. And if anyone wants more details, just ask me here.
P.S. the text copy is the key. Have a smart hook!

      Thanks for the input Alex!

I just never thought about sending them direct to a Facebook page. Great way to simplify things :)

This was very insightful, alot of people have used facebook ads to send traffic to a website where job seekers promote themselves but I would have never fathomed to use it to find your future wife or girlfriend.
