    I plan on promoting some content I'm working on using ads, so this came at the right time. I was going to put off reading the whole thing until I finished the content and was actually ready to implement it, but got sucked in and ended up reading it all now anyway.

    Although I have to admit, the formatting absolutely kills me. I'm sure you've done your split tests for time on page, engagement and so on and so forth but...

    For anyone who can actually focus and has reading capabilities beyond the third grade - paragraphs would really help :)

      I'll post our results at some point for a case study - but we've found that with heat map tests, we get more time on page, deeper engagement and higher optins

      It really does depend on the industry though- I write in the tech industry and its totally different

    This post is the most massive crazy detailed post I've ever seen on the topic. You got me glued scrolling reading through Chapter One when I realised:
    1) how good the post is
    2) I needed to download the PDF version so I could study it and actually implement the steps

    Then, I got the PDF and it was 299 pages?

        That one was awarded a "best of fitness article" on that same site a week before. The week right after was when I was awarded #1 fitness article of the week.

        It was for an article titled:

        "The Best Time to Eat Dinner for Weight Loss"

        The HIIT article was better :)

      We don't go into link pruning sorry- just because the topic of pushing the paid ads is so massive to cover on its own

      There's a few awesome guides out there on the topic

      My tl:dr notes on it

      If you have too much weak content, then it can bring down your rankings for killer content on your site

      At that point you have 2 options


      Remove the content
      Improve, curate a few posts together and republish AND promote it

      Or if its actually great but no links, then just go out and build them

      I'll try and find a guide I recommend on it for you

      We've tried to make it actionable on each chapter- simply due to the size of it

      So even if you only do one chapter at a time, you should start to see huge differences in your content promotion and ad results

    50 comment, seriously? This screen only has 3,100 views, which means the article has probably gotten a whopping 500 in referral traffic from GH. The post is good but it's not that good. It's so painfully obvious that these are friends commenting ridiculously positive things to game the algorithm and get more people to click. This is so descriptive of what's wrong with online marketing.

      Maybe its an outlier?

      Our results are not really standard tbh

      Your right that we would promote our content- we write in the marketing space and shared out article with our audience

      Our entire blog is about promotion of content

      The majority of our audience are marketers and members of this and other forums

      We were then shared by Viperchill, and we mentioned that we would continue the conversation over here, so as not to full up his feed

      (You can see it trended on Sparktoro)

      Your traffic guess wasn't far off either

      GH has sent 483 unique users, for a total of 1,833 visits

      Right now the article has an 81% optin rate

      If you look at the upvotes, they are by respected members of the community

      Did we do outreach to them?

      Ofc we did

      Did they then come and upvote on their own- yes- some of them even shared it etc
