Once a staple of the influencer engagement tool chest, roundup posts have become a low value, overplayed tactic. Readers rarely get value from them and influencers are sick of being asked to write people's content for them. There's a better way, and the good news is that it's simpler than the roundup strategy. It also results in better content that will build relationships with influencers, earn links and drive real traffic.

Been thinking about this recently. How expert roundups are so 2009. Good post.

Thanks Lionel - I (obviously) agree in the majority of cases. Occasionally there's a roundup that does its job but most of the time it just feels very difficult to actually get value from them as a reader.

Great post - I've never really gotten much value from reading roundups myself (they tend to be pretty lacking in structure and any true point). And so doing them myself hasn't always appealed to me. Great solution for all-round wins, including the reader getting maximum value!

Thanks Mike, I'd been feeling the same way (don't generally like reading them, so didn't want to do them). In a lot of ways the strategy in the article is just good citation coupled with a reasonable ask, but it is tricky to get the right balance of promotion and quality so I wanted to throw in my .02 on the approach.
