Consumers are now embracing online transactions more than ever.
Unfortunately for the disabled, the limited number of accessible e-commerce channels excludes them from participating in the global e-commerce boom.

E-commerce companies cannot ignore the importance of web accessibility. It is fundamentally the right and humane thing to do.

This article talks about legal cases, WCAG and ADA compliant and web accessibility solutions.

Thanks Erik for sharing this. I know my father in law at the age of 90 would appreciate websites that are accessible as he has a hard time seeing. I do wonder what the cost is for small businesses though? I would not like to see them be put out of business as many are suffering now in this pandemic. But like I saw on the other hand everything is going digital because of the pandemic.

    Hi Erik,

Well I agree that websites need to be accessible, and hadn't realised how much the market-place was - but as others have said, this is a steep cost for small businesses.

Yes, definitely important to have website accessibility. I do see more and more sites implementing this and it'll only continue to grow as internet usage increases (especially in this wonky year). Anything that helps people use the internet without a struggle is beneficial. The cost for this service is a bit steep for small businesses, though, so it would be cool to see them come up with something more affordable.

It's great that awareness of site accessibility is growing. I have a few blind friends and I can't imagine what kind of hell they go through, especially when they are just trying to live their everyday lives... never mind trying to run a business! When you can't even order pizza, there's a problem. I'm almost glad that Domino's got sued. LOL! Accessibility should be for EVERYONE!

    Hey Erik,

When I started creating websites, it was harder than I thought. It's good to know that a startup is focusing on making eCommerce accessible to everyone. In this pandemic, more and more people are bringing their business online. So, it's good news for them.

    Thanks for sharing with ut.

    Have a great day!
    Ravi
