How are top-10 lists formed? Who and why goes on top, what is the thought process behind ranking items and etc. Hint: this is not a serious post. Do not expect to see a guide there.

1. Post Sponsor

Whoever paid to be the first on the list.

2. Obvious solution

Things that won’t affect the “leader’s” sales. May include anything from Google products, Excel, Photoshop to social media, doing things manually and unconventional use of common things, like using a Notepad ++ to build a landing page via HTML.

3. Subpar competitor

Something similar to number one, but not as good.

Hey Igor, do you see this trend of "Top 10 (20, 67, 300) Lists" still relevant or is the audience becoming desensitized to them?

It looks like the audience has no choice because no matter what you look for you will find a list post.

Even how-to posts are morphing into lists. Instead of "how to tie a tie" we get "5 easy steps to tie a tie"

Interest Igor, it's funny how the top 10 posts keep working. People know what to expect from it when they click it (often they are quick reads).

they're good, that's probably the main reason they're popular. there's no hate on my part, just observations :)
