Recently there was a HUGE shift in the engagement algorithm for Instagram that has resulted in my inbox being off the hook. That's kind of why I wrote this piece.

There's no doubt that engagement has dropped for many brands but I'm confident that some of these fundamentals are still working quite well. It's definitely not as easy to grow your Instagram account as it once was but I think it's a channel that still presents great opportunity for marketers.

Great list @ross! For #5 I can say that this is one of my favorite topics. I'd always recommend to post as often as you have something relevant to share. Of course, sticking to a schedule and publishing in a certain frequency helps to boost your numbers. But on the long-term, there is less relation between number of posts and influence score of an account.

Great stuff @ross. I've seen also a drop in engagement on Instagram lately. I think it's not that easy to build audience anymore. What I've found is that you have to constantly test with latest features. For example I've seen posts that are using the multiple media feature getting more engagement than regular posts. Same happened when video posts were introduced for the first time.

I've been playing around with Instagram, & perceived the Instagram changes as positive mainly. Would be happy to discuss stats and techniques with you ;)
