Alex Schultz, VP of Growth at Facebook, shares with us how to get users, how to grow, and how to measure growth.
So much great stuff in this video. It should be required watching for anyone who aspires to be good at growth. One of my favorite suggestions (that many people screw up) is when trying to find your magic moment "talk to users and then validate with correlations." I often see people going directly to correlations when trying to find a magic moment. I'm a huge proponent of starting with the qualitative and validating with the quantitative.
Another good quote - "The level of retention you need varies by category." If you have a messaging or social product, you need very high retention. If your friends aren't using it, it won't be vary valuable. But if you are an ecommerce marketplace, you can still be successful with low retention if some people sell a lot and others buy a lot.
Love Alex Schulz!
