Andrew McInnes of Kixeye compiles research from 30 hours of interviews to understand how the right team ‘unlocks growth’ and strengthens culture.
Great article. Definitely worth the read. It seems like these teams are already very well in place...
I'm now wondering how these teams (and their structure) evolved over time? Which functions were first?
That's an interesting take. It would be great to see how teams evolve over time. All in all, fantastic article! Great job Andrew.
It seems like most of them evolved from the product organization. One of the things I'm working on for our book is understanding this evolution.
This is great insight and super-helpful in understanding how growth is organized in fast growing companies.
Quote directly from our AMA guest today @sridhar_ravichandran on how to start to build a growth team
"Start small, and start lean. Build a roadmap of things you want to achieve first and then staff the team with the right skill sets, not the other way around. If I had to throw an initial mix out there, I'd say 1-2 engineers, a designer, a channel optimization expert (SEO/ASO/Email) and a PM. Everyone in the team should buy into the growth vision and mission."
Great share @Nichole!
I like this article.
I am curious to know how an "outsourced" growth company would be viewed.
Is that too far-fetched as growth is too close to product? Whereas something like Dev Opps can be outsourced as they view it as ancillary?
Fantastic stuff! Thanks for sharing, @Nichole
