Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’re probably familiar with "Bandersnatch", the interactive film created by Netflix that weirded out the world a few months ago.

When that movie came out something crazy happened. Robert Katai's company, Bannersnack, got an amazing boost.

Here’s why and how he used this odd situation to his advantage.

Hey Erik! Well I guess I have been living under a ROCK as I have NOT heard about this movie yet LOL I actually watch very little TV as you can tell.

Anyways what a great article, my first thoughts as I was reading were, how cool is this, all this free traffic, then I thought HUM? I wonder if they made any sales as these people clearly were not looking for Bannersnack!!

Well I did get my answer at the end, It was to bad they didn't have the tools to capture everyone in place, that would have been good for business.

Great Share on how important our name is to our Brand!

What an interesting "mistake." While, of course, traffic is always preferred when it converts, I think it's cool that this mix up has at least helped spread brand awareness.
I've never heard of the movie, but now, out of curiosity, I HAVE visited Bannersnack (a banner making tool) and I think it's pretty cool. Probably wouldn't have bumped into it otherwise.

Being hyper is a good brand awareness technique, but you should decipher which conversation deserves the trend crown before integrating it into your brand conversation ;).

Hi Erik, Thanks for sharing this one, interesting how the article on Netflex made a difference :) And then the branding - how words associated with it changed, etc. It really gives us something to think about with branding and knowing how to read our Google Analytics.

It's interesting to talk about branding in this word where Google Analytics means so much for an online business.

    Hi Erik,

Google Trends always help us create our marketing strategies. Checking out the top countries from where the higher number of impressions are there, it's good to target those places.
Explaining Bandersnatch's brand making explains it all.
    Thanks for sharing with us.

Maybe the guys from Netflix will learn some new things from this experience and will know how to target their next audience with their next Black Mirror movie.

Hi :) Did you end up creating a specific landing page to make an impression even on odd visitors like this?

Super interesting how something like this can affect an unrelated brand just because it sounds similar!
