I love this one. Marketing/PR people give this advice all the time (find the right reporter, figure out what is interesting to them, tailor the pitch, be persistent - essentially just do the work) but it amazes me how many startups (and crappy PR firms) still spam my inbox every day with spray and pray pitches.
