About a year ago, Lincoln Murphy shared his "super top-secret" way to automate personal emails more effectively – called the “Customer Success bot” method – with his mailing list. Since then, he's come up with several new uses for this framework that have proven to be incredibly effective - and that he shares in this article - that go far beyond just the "personal welcome email" that started it all. In this article, Lincoln talks about the following in addition to 7 new use cases for the framework.
  • Where Automated Personal Emails Went Wrong
  • Sleepless CEOs, Desperate Founders, and Deception
  • You Have to Factor in Business Hours
Lincoln also uses in-line "content upgrades" to drive downloads of the "Customer Success bot" PDF and opt-ins to his mailing list.

    Here's the big idea:

Everyone sends an automated email supposedly from a "real person" but we all know they're not. Lincoln created the customer success bot email that's still automated, but feels real. It's definitely a great hack.

Here he expands on the different ways you can use this beyond the welcome email.

One thing to note with this tactic is that you need to create a custom script or implementation for this because most lifecycle email providers don't allow you to constrain (daypart wise) when triggered emails are sent.

Without constraining this tactic to "normal" business hours it doesn't pass the Turing test.

    Here's Lincoln on it:

"BTW, this is not a function built into most lifecycle messaging systems so you’ll have to build in your own workaround until the vendors realize how important this really is."

Thanks for sharing this @nichole ...

I wrote this article and developed the associated "Customer Success bot" method... if you have any questions or need clarity on it, let me know.
