Loved this part; "be aware that personalization can backfire" That's so true.
I remember Wallmart had a data-driven algorithm that could differentiate, based on the customer's shopping behaviour, whether a specific customer was pregnant or trying to get pregnant. And at some point, automation kicked in, and send a postcard with "hey, congrats on the pregnancy". They eventually stopped using the algorithm because, in some cases, the algorithm had sent postcards before the customer was aware of the pregnancy. 😅
