Did you know that content marketing costs ~41% less per lead than paid search?

Marketing teams know that content is a great, cost-effective way to attract a target audience.

But, what is the actual goal of content marketing? Is it to generate leads? Build an email list? Drive sales? Or is that too dependent on other factors?

To find out what goals content marketers use to measure the success of their content marketing efforts, we talked to nearly 200 marketers in this report:

Great piece, Love the original research! I particularly liked this comment from Cierra Flythe: “The most important goal of content in any industry is a conversation. Get people talking – to you, about you, with you. If your content doesn’t start a conversation then its time to reassess.”

That's an excellent set of criteria to evaluate any new content idea -- ask yourself / your team if you can imagine it triggering someone to talk *with you* or *about you*. If not, find another angle.

      Yup, love this one too.

And for us, another standpoint works well, to get ideas for new content.

Interesting to see that some marketers set new content marketing goals DAILY ! Seems like a little bit of an overkill

Great post with some meaty figures to back it up - exactly what I like to see. The blog itself feels a little crushed though. It's a minor nitpick, but the persistent top bar along with the large text size made it harder to keep reading for want of not scrolling.
