This is a great article, but it mostly focuses on tools to help you systemize your content strategy, which isn't pure automation and only a subset of marketing automation practices.

One of the most important parts of automation is lifecycle marketing through email, push, in-app messages or other mediums that help you with user onboarding and retention.

And this article only cites GetResponse as a platform for that...

Here are a few more tools you have to check out if you are serious about marketing automation, some have similar functionality:
https://segment.com – this is a gateway drug to other web tools that rely on behavioral data of your users and website visitors. If you invest in proper Segment setup you can forget about supporting any other integrations that you may need. Ever.
http://www.getvero.com – email marketing automation platform. While email marketing automation is now present in most platforms, Vero is "automation first" and has most extensive functionality and beats any other that I know.
https://retain.cc – automate in-app, push, email notifications all in one platform.
https://www.intercom.io – while the platform could be used as full-fledged CRM, their intelligent live-chats and email automation make for a great marketing tool.
https://www.aboardly.com – "Email automation made simple." Enough said.
https://autopilothq.com – While most focus is currently on email, but the company has a bold vision on the future and one of the main players that keep pushing tech forward.
https://zapier.com – "Connect the apps you use, automate tasks, get more out of your data."

Most of those are household names by now, I still wanted to mention them as

That's a superb list of resources thanks, as automated marketing is something I need to use more, being such a small business myself.

I have been checking out Oktopost and it's an excellent tool.

So many more tools and resources to look at - and a very thoughtful look at goal-setting for marketing. Far beyond the usual metrics.

    Thanks for a great share.

I highly rate @pavelsk's suggestion of using Vero for email automation below.

Regarding the article above, I think it's important that us marketers don't abuse this technology by merely using it to send more emails. The point is to send targeted emails that convert and make $$ (not page views or some other useless metric).

    "Stay classy" fellow marketers.

Wow, quite the list of valuable resources here!

What I like most about this article is that goes through the complete step-by-step process and shares tools to help get each part of the job done along the way. What a great way to organize it.

It's incredible how few of these tools I'm actually using, and it makes me wonder what I've been missing out on all of these years. If I can buy something that makes my job even a fraction easier, that's worth it in my eyes.

I'll have to check a few of these out... thanks for sharing!
