Most startups are strapped for cash and the majority of them don’t have the budget to dedicate any serious funds to marketing.
So I’ve compiled a list of 51 ways you can acquire customers without having to spend thousands of dollars on marketing.
Many of the points in this post don't seem relevant to actually acquiring 100,000 customers, but are very fluffy (e.g., "make content shareable" or "update your toolbelt") and "Be like Trello" not very actionable.
There is also little to no context as to when you might want to consider using (m)any of these which reduces the utility for me.
Past examples of such lists that I found useful as a beginner (some info in them may be outdated):
https://growthhackers.com/how-to-grow-21-tactics-to-acquire-customers/ - smaller list but more context around each tactic
https://growthhackers.com/66-proven-tactics-acquire-users-zero-marketing-budget/ - categorized by type of tactic
I created this list to generate ideas for people struggling to find ways to acquire new customers. Hoping to light a spark - that eureka moment. Thanks for reading :)
The concern Jason, is the title. It's misleading. Did you just pull 100,000 out of thin air?
Great post, that hello bar landing page is a winner too.
that was my fav too
whoa. definitely gonna grab that for myself :)
Thanks Joe! I think Hellobar just came out with that option a few weeks ago...best part about it is it's free :)
Amazing customer service...can't stress that enough. Great post.
Thanks Lauren. I wrote this article about that subject a while back and people loved it. http://justjasonjames.com/new-product-feature-isnt-going-to-get-you-more-customers/
