Nice post Chintan. It was a great read.
We used to contribute to the Databox round-up posts. One reason we stopped submitting was because the low referral traffic and one more link on the same referring domain didn't warrant us to keep spending 30+ minutes writing thoughtful responses.
For a while they ran the same round-up strategy for partner websites. We were more inclined to submit these surveys because backlinks from a new referring domain was worth it, even if the referral traffic gains were minimal. However, Databox stopped soliciting answers to those round-up posts.
We found the most success by recording direct-to-camera videos explaining our take on the question, sharing the videos on social, and tagging Databox. They were great about reciprocating engagement with likes, shares, and comments on those social videos.
