It’s that time of year — the holiday season is approaching us fast. For those in the retail, ecommerce, and marketing world we have already begun strategizing and executing our holiday marketing campaigns. It feels a bit different though this year, as we are focusing on more channels and marketplaces than ever before: Amazon, Facebook, Pinterest, eBay, Twitter, Google Shopping, plus our own physical and online shops, to name a few.

Crazy that brands (like Coke) have influenced how we view the holidays with such popular icons like Santa Claus. Somebody deserves a raise!

Also crazy to see that the Macy's holiday window display is still influential - I had no idea it started in 1874.

      Great share @veronicafis!

There's a lot to be said about the impact of store front displays back in the day. Many families would include the tradition of visiting the shops just to see the elaborate decorations and displays that were seasonally decorated.

Before we had digital ad campaigns, store fronts operated as a sort of advertisement in themselves, and I wouldn't doubt that they would have had a similar impact on consumer spending habits.

I totally agree with Casey! Crazy how much of an impact can some brands have on us and society in general!
