I see #10 (Track meaningful metrics) often goes neglected by some bloggers. Perhaps the task of creating content is so time-consuming that we neglect tracking/content promotion etc. Great post, thanks for sharing.
Agreed! Jory had some really unique ideas for metrics. Eventually, I think more content marketers are going to shift away from pageviews and start tracking subscribers/product conversions/etc.

I can see why being controversial can seem to be a scary proposition to most people.
Would the following approaches be better in avoiding negative sentiments that can often be associated with controversial posts?
Taking a stand based on values.
Explaining something from a "data vs them" position as opposed to a "you vs them" position.
